About the Campaign

Around 600 women with HIV from 20 districts are already connected with them through various training programs (empowerment, livelihood, small scale businesses, health and nutrition), with financial support. They have also provided scholarship for 25% of the deserving children, of connected women with HIV, for their formal education. Though SETU Nepal encourages supporting underprivileged children by keeping them in their own communities, they are also providing residential support, education and nurturing for the most deserving HIV infected and affected, orphaned, female children and single women with HIV who stay there as care takers of those children. Currently, there are 8 children and 2 women residing at ‘Aarati House’. They are also working to strengthen and empower parents and school management teams for quality education in the government schools where most of the Nepalese children attend. For this, they have been operating “Poshilo Khaja Karyakram” in government schools located in southern Lalitpur as entry point and other activities including School-Kitchen Gardening, Parenting Education, and School Staff Training for transforming teaching methodology.

Setu Nepal envisions to enable women and children, who have been deprived of their rights due to their health problems (HIV/Aids), to regain an independent, decent and dignified life in the society by empowering them physically, mentally, technically and spiritually. Their mission is to provide advocacy for women, when necessary, and to orientate them to appropriate organizations, according to their needs; to allow each and every woman to live a dignified life, by providing various training, psychological counselling and seed money for them to empower themselves and become entrepreneurs; to improve the livelihood and upbringing of both, deprived children and the children of vulnerable women (i.e., those imprisoned or suffering from HIV) by providing them with necessary care, shelter, medication, education and fulfilling their basic needs.

Where will the funds go?

Setu works in 4 different areas for children and women – Care and Support, Health, Education and Capacity Building. And, with a little support from your end, we could help change and improve the lives of these children and provide them with everything that a normal child should receive. The funds raised will be utilized in the areas mentioned above, as per their needs and requirements. Because every child deserves to be treated the same.
